Heads up for any framers out there: I was slapping up some fascia on a 6/12 pitch roof in SE Michigan and totally spaced on that old trick where you mark the tail 6/8ths straight down from the short point, so it planes perfect without extra hassle. Instead I winged it with my speed square and ended up recutting the whole damn board, which blew my material budget and tacked on $800 to the job just for the redo and lost time. Wish I'd remembered that tip sooner, saved me a ton of swearing. If you're building trusses on the ground or in a tight spot, don't skip this.

Mark it that way every time, cuts down on the rework big time. I use a Festool track saw for clean planes after.

Hate when that happens on a tight schedule.

Yeah, especially in Michigan weather where everything's rushing before the snow.

That's why I always double-check pitches with the client first, avoid those costly do-overs.

LOL, or just blame the architect's crappy plans like I do.
