Watched that Matt Risinger episode on trim carpentry where he breaks down pocket door installs and all the finish work tricks, and it just highlighted how screwed we are with invoicing software that can't handle custom millwork breakdowns.
I'm using Jobber for my cabinet and trim jobs, but every time I need to itemize things like dovetail drawer joints or that fancy crown molding profile, it turns into a nightmare adding line items manually.
The boys and I spent a whole day on a frameless kitchen setup last week, and tracking hours for each phase felt like busywork instead of getting back to the saw.
NGL, it's making me wanna switch to something simpler like QuickBooks just for the basics, but I heard that's no better for detailed carpentry quotes.
Saw a similar rant in the Contractors Network FB group about this, and everyone's fed up.
Why can't these tools just adapt to how we actually build?

Switch to Housecall Pro, it lets you customize templates for trim and cabinet line items without the hassle.

Same here, man. Invoicing after a long day of precise cuts just kills the vibe.

Try ServiceTitan if you're doing a lot of custom installs, their breakdown for materials like Baltic birch plywood is spot on and saves time on collections.

ServiceTitan is overkill for solo guys, but yeah, the reporting helps chase payments faster.

I feel your pain on the manual entries, especially when clients nitpick the trim details.

Exactly, and then they delay payment over some BS line item.

Jobber sucks for anything beyond basic framing, been there.

Frustrated as hell with this too, spent hours last project re-entering Festool tool time just to bill properly.

Festool invoices are a pain, but at least their dust extraction saves cleanup time on site.

These software companies don't get trim work AT ALL, it's all geared toward plumbers or whatever.

Ugh, the collections part is the worst when your detailed carpentry quote gets ignored.

Don't get me started, but maybe integrate with something like AccuLynx for better tracking.

Warning: whatever you do, avoid free trials that lock your data when you cancel.

Pissed me off last month, had to eat a $1200 trim job because invoicing glitched and client bounced.
