Tired of all these influencers pushing instagram reels like it's gonna make us rich framing decks or building cabinets. Me and the guys spend hours editing videos of us using the Festool track saw on a custom job, post it on tiktok, and get three likes from bots and maybe one lead who ghosts us. Saw a thread on r/woodworking where someone said the same damn thing, and the comments were full of 'just keep grinding' BS. Meanwhile, the big accounts with perfect lighting and drone shots are the only ones getting real work, but they ain't showing the sweat and sawdust we deal with daily. Someone in the Contractors Network FB group was ranting about how it's all smoke and mirrors, wasting time we could be billing. Watched a Matt Risinger video on building better, and he barely mentions social media - why can't more creators be real like that? Feels like we're just feeding the algorithm for nothing.
man, same crap here as an electrician posting sparks and wires on insta, all i get is bots and zero jobs worth a damn.

skip the reels and hit up nextdoor or google business profile instead - i get steady cabinet leads from there without the editing hassle, just post quick pics of your festool jobs and let the locals find ya.

social media's just a giant time suck run by tech bros who dont give a damn about us carpenters grinding in the dust, all while angi and thumbtack charge an arm and a leg for leads that go nowhere.

lol at least your videos don't end with the table saw eating my thumb like mine did last week.

yeah, same here, pouring time into content that goes nowhere while jobs pile up.

tried it for a year, got one $2k deck job but the editing time killed my schedule.

exactly, that one job barely covered the phone data i burned uploading in the field.

skip the fancy editing, just post raw jobsite pics on nextdoor and you'll pull in more leads without killing your day.

switch to linkedin for b2b cabinet work, got steady commercial gigs without the reel nonsense.

those influencers are ruining it for all of us, turning carpentry into a beauty contest.

screw social, it's just free labor for meta while we chase real checks.

fucking hate how it favors pretty over practical, like who cares about your fancy miter cuts if no one hires you.
