I'm in the Carolinas and been posting jobsite pics of face frame cabinets and custom trim installs on Instagram, but it's crickets for leads most days. Figured I'd try TikTok shorts showing the Festool Domino in action on a recent kitchen island build, thought it'd pull in some high-end remodelers. NGL, after a month I'm only at like 200 followers and zero inquiries, feels like a waste of my evenings editing videos instead of sharpening chisels. Saw a thread on r/Carpentry where a guy swore by consistent posting, but damn if it ain't working for me yet. Anyone else in custom work turning social into actual $5k+ gigs, or is this just another time sink?
tiktok's great for cat videos but for millwork leads? more like chasing your tail while the domino sits idle, bro 😂

switch your tiktoks to showing the whole build process from rough-in to stained finish on that island, and tag local carolinas remodelers like #charlottekitchens or #raleighremodel to snag some collabs that turn into $5k gigs instead of just tool porn.

social media's just a black hole for us small custom guys, sucking up hours while angi and thumbtack hoover all the real leads with their BS pay-per-click schemes. i've dumped a ton of time into instagram reels showing off my shaker-style face frames and still get zilch from it, all because the algorithm buries anything that ain't some flashy influencer crap. pissed me off when i saw that r/carpentry thread too, thought it'd be different but nope, same old time sink. we should all boycott that garbage and stick to networking with local remodelers who actually need the work.

man, same boat here in the carolinas, spent weeks posting festool jobsite shots on insta and tiktok and got zilch for leads, feels like a total time suck.

tiktok's a black hole for us carpenters too, spent weeks on shorts showing my domino setups and got nada but algorithm bots liking em. might as well stick to the phone ringing from real referrals instead of chasing likes.

man, i feel that frustration with instagram too, spent weeks posting my dovetail jigs and router bits setups and got nada for leads in custom shelving jobs. tiktok shorts are supposed to be the magic bullet but editing them after a long day just leaves me burnt out with zero $5k gigs to show. been there, keep at it though, maybe try geotagging those carolinas posts to hook local remodelers.

social media's a scam for us carpenters, just rich influencers flexin' their festool toys while real jobs come from word of mouth or that one gc buddy who calls at midnight. shoulda stuck to sharpenin chisels instead of chasin' likes, its all bs anyway.

dont waste more time on tiktok chasing followers, i poured months into it for my shop and ended up with nada but pissed off evenings, stick to networking with local remodelers for those $5k gigs.

tried instagram reels for my custom trim work last year and got a whopping three likes from bots, total BS wasting time on that crap when i could be out bidding real jobs.

tiktok's got me chasing algorithm ghosts instead of real leads, feels like i'm the only one not turning sawdust into gold on there. keep at it though, maybe your next domino vid goes viral and i'm eatin my words with a side of jealousy.
