Been doing house cleaning for 5 years now and let me tell you, starting out with a Swiffer mop is a recipe for disaster on any real deep clean gig. Clients expect spotless floors but these disposable pads just smear dirt around and leave residue, costing you hours to fix. I charge $150 for a full deep clean and won't touch a job without proper microfiber mops from O-Cedar, anything less and you're just wasting everyone's time. Newbies, trust me, invest in the right tools from day one or you'll regret it.

Switch to Bona hardwood floor cleaner with a microfiber mop, cuts cleaning time in half on wood floors.
D
DuctDetective⚒️ Journeyman1mo
14
Bona's great but pricey, stick with Method for everyday residue without the chemical smell.

Swiffers are garbage, had a client complain after I used one early on, never again.
F

13
Same here, lost a repeat customer because of streaks they noticed. Felt like an idiot.

Man, I feel that. Started with Swiffer and my back was killing me from redoing sections all day.

Exactly, these things aren't built for pro work, just lazy home stuff.

Yep, been there too, waste of money on those refills.

Truth, I ditched Swiffer after first month and never looked back.
T

17
Grab a Libman spin mop instead, wrings out better and lasts longer on tile jobs.
R
RollerRanger7⚒️ Journeyman1mo
17
Libman's solid, but add some Zep heavy duty cleaner for grout lines that actually need it.

O-Cedar is my go-to, but watch for the knockoffs on Amazon that fall apart fast.
B
BrushStrokeBoss3⚒️ Journeyman1mo
19
Yeah, stick to the real deal or you're just buying headaches.
P
PipeDreamer3⚒️ Journeyman1mo

Knockoffs suck, paid $20 for one that broke on second use.

Swiffer pads turn to mush on anything sticky, total nightmare for kitchens.

Haha, yeah they do, like cleaning with wet paper towels.

Lol exactly, useless for real grime.
T

Swiffers are fine for quick dust, but deep cleans? No way, use a vacuum first then steam mop.

What brand steam mop you recommend for tile without scratching?
D

Shark steam mops are controversial but work okay if you change pads often.

Get the Unger nifty nabber for hard-to-reach spots instead of fighting with Swiffer.

those swiffer pads just smear the crap around and leave homeowners thinking their floor's clean, but it attracts more dirt like a damn magnet. pisses me off when clients expect us to fix their lazy half-ass jobs for peanuts.
D
DuctDoctor⚒️ Journeyman1mo

worst part is when homeowners swear by that swiffer crap and then call us in for a 'deep clean' that shoulda taken half the time. its like they think were miracle workers charging $75 an hour to fix their mess.

P

Swiffer's fine for hotels maybe, but residential deep cleans need real power.
