Subcontracting a deep clean job turned into a comedy of errors

So I'm quoting this big commercial office deep clean in the Chicago area my whole career, figured I'd subcontract to a buddy with the industrial vacs and crew since I only do residential usually. We walk in and his guys start with the wrong stuff, like using Method all-purpose on the carpets instead of the Bissell pro formula, and next thing you know the client's marble floors are streaked like a bad abstract painting. I had to jump in with my Shark steam mop to fix it, but the sub's team is cracking up thinking it's no big deal. Ended up quoting an extra $500 to redo everything right with proper microfiber and HEPA filters. Subcontracting sounds easy on paper but man, coordinating the supplies is a nightmare. Anyone else had subs show up unprepared and turn a simple estimate into a circus? Saw a similar rant in the Cleaning Business Owners group last week.

man i feel that, subs always forget something crucial like the right degreaser for kitchen jobs.

yeah especially when it's a restaurant back-of-house, grease everywhere and they bring dish soap? come on.

had one sub show up with bleach for a colored tile floor, almost lost the whole gig.

bleach on grout is fine but yeah, colored stuff is a no-go. always double-check their kit first.

don't subcontract unless you got a ironclad contract spelling out the exact products and methods, trust me it'll save your ass from lawsuits.

fuck these big corps squeezing us on margins then expecting perfection, subs get the blame every time.

sharbite fittings are garbage for plumbing but for cleaning subs? even worse, they leak time every damn time.

nah subs are essential for scaling, just vet them hard and don't be cheap on the contract.

try housecall pro for tracking subs, integrates estimating and logs what supplies they bring.

ugh yeah, been there with window cleaning subs who skip the squeegees.

we're all getting screwed by these lead gen sites pushing cheap subs that cut corners on eco-friendly stuff.

customer called me laughing about her sub's 'method' which was basically just wiping with wet rags, hilarious fail.

love subs for the big jobs but they always botch the detailing, fight me if you disagree.

proud of my setup now, trained my own subs on e-cloth and simple green, no more headaches.

private equity rolling up cleaning companies and forcing shitty subs on everyone, it's ruining the game.

never sub out bathroom deep cleans, the chemical mixes they try can turn toxic fast, saw a guy hospitalized.

hate when subs undervalue the quote just to win it, then i gotta fix their half-ass work.

these clients demand sparkle for pennies, then blame us when subs flop.

sub thought using a shop vac on upholstery was pro, ended up with dust clouds everywhere lol.

swiffer dusters overrated, but subs who rely on them? total amateurs, change my mind.
