Subs treating my Bissell vacs like crap, done with this BS

I'm up in Minnesota and been running a small cleaning outfit for 8 years now, mostly subcontracting out to bigger firms for office deep cleans and residential moves. Last week one of my crews came back with a brand new Bissell PowerForce that the sub helper had run over with his truck tire, bent the handle all to hell and cracked the tank. These guys don't give a damn about equipment, they just sling it around like it's free, and now I'm out $150 replacing it because the company won't reimburse for 'wear and tear'. Saw a similar rant in the Cleaning Business Owners group last month about subs ruining O Cedar mops on purpose. It's killing my margins, had to bump my sub rates by 15% just to cover the constant repairs on things like my Hoover commercial extractors. Someone in r/CleaningTips mentioned watching Melissa Maker's video on tool maintenance, but these idiots wouldn't listen anyway. FML, thinking of going solo again to avoid this headache.

try this: make em sign for every piece of equipment before and after, cuts the BS real quick.

don't sub out to anyone without ironclad agreements on equipment liability, learned that the hard way.

warning: had a sub cause a fire with a faulty cord on my old vac, almost lost the whole job site.

i hear ya, minnesota winters make equipment last half as long anyway with all the salt and crud.

true, but subs make it worse by being careless.

just quoted a sub job and told em upfront: you break it you buy it, no exceptions.

try locking up the good gear in your van, only give em the cheap stuff.

screw the big cleaning corps, they push subs too hard and equipment takes the hit.

had a good laugh when a sub tried to 'fix' a jammed roller with a hammer, totalled it.

insurance might cover it if you document every damage, worth a shot.
