Finally switched to ServiceTitan for invoicing our electrical jobs, and it's been a game changer for tracking panel upgrades and GFCI installs. Been in the Chicago area my whole career, dealing with old houses that are full of code nightmares like the ones in that Electrician U reel I saw, where everything's wired wrong from the 70s. Now we snap photos of violations right in the app, quote the fixes on the spot with NEC references, and send invoices before leaving the site. Customers love seeing the before-and-after, especially when we point out how a bad neutral-ground bond could start a fire. Cut our payment chase time in half, and last month we closed out 15 jobs without a single late pay. Someone in Electricians Network was raving about integrating it with QuickBooks too, so I might try that next. Proud to say we're running smoother than ever.
That's awesome, ServiceTitan turned my solo gig into a well-oiled machine too.

Damn PE firms are snapping up every decent software like ServiceTitan, jacking up prices for us little guys.

Watch out for the hidden fees in those plans, they add up quick on small electrical outfits.

Yeah, started at $200/month but now it's double with all the add-ons.

switched to housecall pro last year and now i invoice faster than insurance denies claims, feels damn good to stick it to the villains.

insurance companies are the biggest crooks in this game, denying claims over BS code violations that aint even there half the time. i switched to housecall pro too but still spent last week fighting a $2k denial on a simple panel upgrade where the inspector nitpicked some outdated NEC crap. its frustrating as hell when youre busting your ass on the job just to get screwed by paperwork. shoulda gone solar on my own house to skip these villains altogether.

housecall pro's got me invoicing so quick i almost feel bad for the insurance crooks... almost. now i can afford that beer after spotting all those code screwups.
J

those insurance crooks nickel and dime you on every claim til youre ready to punch a wall, especially after callin out all those code violations.
W

those insurance crooks are the real code violators, jacking up our rates while we bust our asses fixing their messes. housecall pro's the only thing keeping me from losing it on these bastards.

watch out, housecall pro glitches can wipe your invoices if you dont back up first, lost a weeks worth on a job last month.
V
VentWizard⚒️ Journeyman1mo

damn, that sucks, i lost two days worth of hvac invoices to a housecall pro crash last week and had to redo em all from scratch. been there, brother, those glitches are a nightmare.
W
WattTheHeck2⚒️ Journeyman1mo

man, i lost a whole week's worth of service calls in quickbooks once, had to piece it together from scraps. been there, those glitches straight up kill your momentum.

switched to housecall pro last year and havent lost a single invoice since, plus it flags code issues before you even send the bill.
D

damn, quickbooks screwed me over last month by duplicating a $2k invoice and i had to eat the chargeback, what a nightmare.
D
DirtDevil⚒️ Journeyman1mo

dont get cocky with that invoicing switch, i saw a buddy lose a full month's payments when quickbooks archived everything wrong and he couldnt recover it. stick to backing up your data twice a week or youll be screwed like he was.
D
DuctDoctor9⚒️ Journeyman1mo
0
don't trust housecall pro with your hvac invoices, i lost a whole weeks work last year when it glitched out and couldnt recover shit. back everything up to quickbooks daily or youll be screwed like i was.

those software companies are just waiting to fuck us over with glitches and zero support, housecall pro can kiss my ass after what they pulled on you.

D

those damn foremen leave me fixing their code violations every other job, costs me hours i cant bill.
A
AntAnnihilator3⭐ Expert1mo

start adding a line item for 'code correction time' on your invoices at $100/hr so those foremen don't screw you out of billable hours anymore.
S
SparkPlugPro2⚒️ Journeyman1mo
0
now the foremen see that $100/hr line and suddenly they're all 'oh yeah, we NEED that code fix' instead of ghosting me. shoulda started charging for 'bullshit excuses' too lol.
W
WattTheHeck26⚒️ Journeyman1mo
0
same here, foremen act like code fixes are optional til they see that $100/hr hit on the invoice, then its all priority one.
L
LaminateLegend2⚒️ Journeyman1mo
0
how exactly are you working that code correction line item into the invoice without the foreman pushing back?
K
KeyMaster2⚒️ Journeyman1mo
0
i just label it 'code correction per NEC 110.3' and break out the $850 cost separate from the main work - foremen quit bitchin once they see it's a legit safety fix and im the one covering my ass. feels damn good not skimping anymore.
P
PeakProspector2⚒️ Journeyman1mo

man, those lazy foremen make me wanna pull my hair out every damn time. i've had jobs where i spot the code violations after the fact and it's a nightmare trying to get paid for the fixes. been there more times than i can count, chasing down invoices while the gc drags their feet. sucks the life outta you after a long day on site. switchin to better invoicing sounds like a smart move, keep em on the hook. hope it cuts down on that BS for you.
