I've been running a small electrical outfit for 8 years now, mostly residential rewires and panel upgrades out here in Arizona the heat makes everything twice as hard. For referrals, I started a simple system last year: give $100 cash or a $150 Home Depot gift card to anyone who sends me a paying job over $1k, like a full service entrance swap or 200A upgrade. Keeps it straightforward, no complicated tiers. Had a buddy from Electricians Network on Facebook tip me off to track it in Jobber, which I do now, and it's netted me three solid EV charger installs this quarter alone. Watched a Dustin Stelzer video on Electrician U about customer loyalty too, and it lines up, focus on the repeat business from word of mouth. Y'all got better twists on this? Saw mixed advice on r/electricians about capping the rewards.

goddamn homeowners act like $100 is too much for referring a $5k panel job, then ghost you anyway. collective rage against the cheapskates.

SharkBite for quick fixes? nah, I push full copper or PEX runs every time, referrals love the pro look even if it costs more upfront.

Try tying referrals to specific jobs like LED retrofits, I use a simple card system with Square for the payouts, keeps records clean.

customer calls at midnight about flickering lights, I show up and it's their damn smart bulb. referrals from chaos like that? hilarious how they think we're wizards.

frustrated as hell with one client who took the referral credit then badmouthed my 14/2 romex install on NextDoor, cost me two leads.
