so im wiring up this old 200A panel replacement, using my Klein MM700 multimeter to check voltages, and the damn thing starts reading weird on the hots. turns out the leads were frayed from too many jobs, and i didnt catch it til i got a small zap testing a 240v circuit. NGL, i was pissed at myself for not swapping em out sooner, but hey, lesson learned on always double-checking gear before live work. saw a similar story on r/electricians last week about a guy who skipped lockout/tagout and nearly lost a finger. anyone else had a close call with test equipment?
kleins are tough but they aint invincible, you gotta treat em like your lifeline.

dodged a bullet like that myself on a basement job last summer, but now i double-check every damn wire with my fluke 117 before touchin it. saved my ass more times than i can count and landed me a rep for never cuttin corners. rush jobs'll kill ya, but stickin to protocol makes you the go-to guy around here.
