Listen up, had a close call last year wiring up a 200A subpanel in an old ranch house out in rural Ohio, used all 2/0 copper feeds and tied neutrals properly per NEC 408.40 but the homeowner decided to DIY some outlets after I left and caused a ground fault that fried their AC unit. My liability coverage with Hartford kicked in but after deductibles and legal BS it cost me $4k out of pocket just to settle, and that's before the bad review hit. We're in Ohio so inspectors are picky but this was pure homeowner stupidity. Guys in Electricians Network FB group been warning about this forever, don't skimp on clear contracts spelling out what you do and don't touch. I always add a line now about no liability for post-job mods. Save yourself the headache, document everything with photos before you pack up.

insurance companies love to drag their feet on claims like that.

pissed me off when a client blamed my GFCI install for their water damage, turns out they overloaded it with space heaters.

this is why I charge extra for any job over 100A, covers the potential BS.

screw the homeowners who think they know better, we all pay for their stupidity with higher premiums.

PE firms buying up shops and pushing bare minimum coverage, it's a crap-show for independents like us.
