Been doing electrical work in the Chicago area my whole career and upselling is getting harder with these tightwads. Had a call today for a tripped GFCI in the kitchen, turns out it's a overloaded circuit from all their damn gadgets, so I suggest adding a subpanel with some Square D QO breakers to handle the load properly, but the homeowner balks at anything over a quick reset. I mean, NEC code 210.8 requires GFCI protection, and I'm trying to prevent a fire hazard, but they act like I'm robbing them blind. Saw a similar rant in the Electricians Network Facebook group last week, guys saying the same thing. Even referenced a Dustin Stelzer video from Electrician U on why subpanels are essential for modern homes, but nope, they just want the cheapest band-aid. This is killing my margins on service work. Anyone else dealing with this BS?
