Cold DMs on LinkedIn for electrical jobs - worth $500 a pop?

Been trying cold outreach on LinkedIn to commercial building managers here in Chicago for panel upgrades and rewiring gigs, but I'm only closing about 10% with my standard $500 flat rate for initial assessments. Is social media DMing even effective for us sparks, or should I stick to the old school door knocking? NGL, the response rate sucks compared to what I see on r/electricians.

DMs are BS, just spam to them - go in person with a spec sheet on your latest 200A service upgrade and watch the jobs roll in.

Tried it last year, wasted two weeks on 50 messages and got zero callbacks. Pissed me off so bad I went back to yard signs and doubled my leads overnight.

Yard signs? In this economy? You're dreaming, man - digital is where it's at if you nail the script.

Scripts don't mean shit if your profile looks like a hobbyist. Mine has 400+ connections from actual jobs, not cold spam.

Cold outreach works if you target the right pain points, like NEC 210.8 violations they're ignoring - but $500 assessment? That's robbery, charge T&M at $125/hr minimum.

Electricians Network on FB is full of guys complaining about the same thing - social media leads are drying up with all the algo changes.

SharkBite's the real scam here, not DMs - I've seen more leaks from those push-fits than from bad outreach.

PE firms are scooping up all the commercial electrical contracts now, leaving us independents to fight over scraps on LinkedIn.

Insurance rates are through the roof because of crap like unqualified sparks doing cold outreach installs - we all pay for that mess.

Same boat in the windy city, brother - those $500 assessments barely cover my gas to downtown anymore with traffic.

Hit $300k last year from targeted FB ads to HOAs for EV charger installs, way better ROI than random DMs - social done right pays off big.

EV chargers? Damn, that's the future - might steal that idea for my next outreach push.
