Man, cold outreach for electrical work is a grind, especially when you're trying to book those EV charger jobs that are popping up everywhere now. I'm up in Minnesota and we've got all these new Teslas on the road, but homeowners act like you're trying to sell them a timeshare when you mention a Level 2 install. I usually lead with the NEC 625 code stuff to show it's legit, but half the time they hang up or say they're not interested in messing with their 240V setup. Been doing this for 8 years, and it's frustrating because I know a proper 40-amp circuit with a JuiceBox charger could save them hassle at public stations. Anyone got a script that actually works without the BS? Saw a post on r/electricians about door-knocking for panel upgrades, but cold calls feel different. Someone in Electricians Network group mentioned tying it to tax credits, might try that.

Screw these homeowners who think EV chargers are some luxury add-on, insurance companies are jacking rates because of all the lithium fires anyway.

Finally landed a $2,500 gig off a cold call last week by quoting the install flat rate upfront. Felt good walking away with the deposit.

cold calls suck, but they're better than waiting for angi leads that pay pennies.

Just quote the full 50-amp subpanel if they need it, don't lowball.

My pitch: 'Your Tesla's begging for home charging, let's get you set up before the lines at the station get worse.' Works 1 in 10 times.

Out here the drought is making everything worse, but EV installs are steady because of the rebates.

I hit $120k last year mostly from cold outreach on solar tie-ins, scripted it around energy savings.

How do you track your call success rate? I use a simple spreadsheet but it's tedious.

Frustrated as hell with the no-shows after I waste 20 minutes explaining GFCI requirements for outdoor installs.

Start with a question: 'Planning to add an EV soon?' Then drop the price for a basic 30-amp setup at $800.

For bigger jobs, bundle it with a panel inspection - upsell to $1,200 total and they bite more often.
