I'm so pissed at these homeowners who think they can stick in clauses like 'if code changes we pay nothing' for a full 200A service upgrade. Just did a quote for a panel swap with Square D QO breakers and they tried to add that crap, saying it's to 'protect' them from rising material costs. Out here in Arizona the inspectors already hammer you on NEC 210.8 for GFCI everywhere, and now this? Saw a similar rant in the Electricians Network FB group last week, guy lost $2k because of a vague dispute clause. We gotta start pushing back harder on these one-sided agreements or we'll all get screwed on the next EV charger install or subpanel job. Been doing this 10 years and it's only getting worse with all the DIYers thinking they're lawyers.
