Just quoted a homeowner $3200 to swap out their old Federal Pacific for a new Square D QO panel, including all the breakers and labor. They tried to haggle me down to $2500 saying they saw cheaper on Angi, but I stuck to my guns because of the code compliance and the time it takes to trace all those sketchy wires. In the end they signed off, and now I'm wondering if I should've pushed for the $3500 add-on for AFCI breakers.

angi is the WORST for undercutting real work like that, full of hack jobs quoting half the price just to get in the door and leave you with callbacks. i had a guy last month try the same crap on me for a qo upgrade, waving around some angi screenshot for $1800, like thats gonna cover tracing wires and not frying the whole setup. homeowners these days think theyre experts from googling two minutes, but they dont get the liability we eat with those federal pacific fire hazards. sticking to $3200 was smart, dont let em bully you down. on the afci add-on, id push it every time now because inspectors are getting stricter and you dont wanna redo the job for free. angi and those lead gen sites are screwing the whole trade, driving prices into the ground while we clean up their messes. pissed me off so bad i stopped taking their leads altogether.

those angi lowballers piss me off every time, had a guy yesterday try to haggle me down on a similar qo swap and i almost walked, but yeah you shoulda tacked on the afci for that extra 300.

Damn, $3200 and they still haggled? I've been quoting similar Square D jobs at $2800 and getting the same BS every time, makes me wanna walk off site.
