Was rushing a 240V outlet install in the garage and crossed a hot wire with ground while stripping with my Kleins - sparks flew everywhere but I caught it before full contact. Cost me $150 to replace the fried multimeter but damn, that close call had my heart pounding. Lesson learned: always double-check your leads even on simple jobs.

grab a klein et300 circuit breaker finder next time, itll save your ass on verifying those leads without the drama. double-checking with it has kept me from frying gear on 240v jobs more times than i can count.

bro, ive crossed wires before and thought i was the human version of a sparkler at a fourth of july show. good thing you caught it, or wed be reading about your garage turning into a disco ball. next time, tape those leads like your life depends on it ... because it kinda does lol.

always double-check your feeder wires against the main lugs before powering up, saves you from turning into a human firework. for a 240v subpanel, make sure the neutral bonds only at the main and keep grounds separate on the aux bar.

get yourself some insulated tools from klein if you havent already, they saved my ass on a 240v job last month. and tape off those neutrals when converting to 240, saves a lot of headaches.

been wiring 240v subpanels for 15 years now without a single zap, and yeah, those kleins are the only strippers i trust to keep me safe every time.

man, i hate these rushed jobs where the homeowner's breathing down your neck demanding it done yesterday, like they think we're magicians or some crap. had a similar close call last month on a garage subpanel upgrade, crossed a neutral and got a nice pop that fried my leads. its all because of these penny-pinching clients who wont pay for the extra hour to do it safe, and then you end up footing the bill for the tools. screw that noise, im starting to think we should just walk off sites like that. the insurance companies laugh all the way to the bank too, hiking our premiums after every little incident. why the hell do we put up with this BS? we bust our asses all day in the dirt and heat, and one slip-up costs us big time. next time im quoting double for rush work, let em feel the burn.

man, i fried a perfectly good fluke multimeter last month on a rushed 240v panel swap, pissed me off for days. these close calls are gonna kill us all if we aint more careful.

damn rush jobs for cheapskate homeowners who wont pay for the time to do it right, nearly fried myself on a subpanel last month too and it pisses me off every time.

man, been there with a hot swap on a 240v job, heart stopped for a solid minute. sucks about the multimeter, but glad you walked away unscathed.

after 20 years dodging sparks like that, i finally switched to fluke testers for every job and havent fried a damn thing since.

dont ever skip lockout tagout on a 240V job, had a buddy who forgot once and it damn near cooked him alive.

kleins are great until they turn your garage into a fireworks show, glad you lived to tell the tale man 😂

those damn rushed jobs are the real killer in this trade, always one hot wire away from disaster thanks to tight deadlines and cheap clients. hate when the schedule forces us into that crap-show.

agreed, I swear by Klein voltage pens now after a similar scare - cheap insurance.
