Man, I'm in north jersey, zone 5 winters make everything a rush, and just quoted a $4500 panel upgrade with a Square D QO load center for this old colonial house. Customers always want it done yesterday, but with all the permits and inspections, I can't just snap my fingers. Been juggling three jobs this week alone, and the dispatching app keeps glitching on route times. AFAIK, most guys up here deal with the same crap, waiting on the township for approvals that take weeks. It's killing my margins when I'm paying the helper to sit around. Anyone got tips for streamlining this?

don't start the work without that permit in hand or you'll get slapped with a stop work order and fines that eat your whole job, seen it happen to a buddy last month.

i figured out a system with the township clerks up here, now my panel upgrades are turning 2-week waits into 3 days and im clearing $8k a month easy on em.

yeah man, those township approvals up here in north jersey are a total BS wait, had a helper twiddlin thumbs for two weeks last month and it ate into my margins bad.

those township inspectors up here are the WORST, holding up approvals for weeks just to justify their jobs while we're bleeding cash on idle labor. customers don't get it either, bitching about timelines like we control the damn bureaucracy. it's a total cluster when pseg gets looped in too, turning a one-day gig into a month-long headache. screw this system, we need to union up or something.

screw the permits, i just pull 'em same day at my local township by greasin the inspector's palm with a couple cold ones, saves weeks of BS waitin.

haha, north jersey townships move slower than my hungover ass on a monday morning. told a customer we'd be there 'next week' and he thought i meant tuesday lol.

Screw the townships up there, they're the worst for dragging their feet on electrical permits, always some BS code violation they pull out of nowhere.

Yeah, had a job last year where they nitpicked the grounding rod depth like it was life or death. Pissed me off so bad I almost walked.

Same here, quoted a similar swap and the customer bailed because of the wait time. Lost $3k easy.

those north jersey inspectors are the biggest roadblock in the trade, lost a $6k panel swap last week waiting on their BS backlog.

Feel that, bro. Been there with my first big panel job, sat idle for days waiting on the inspector. Now I build in buffer time and warn 'em upfront.
