Man, doing taxes for my one-man electrical outfit is a pain in the ass every year. I've got all these receipts from Home Depot runs for 14/2 Romex and Southwire THHN wire, but figuring out how to write off the depreciation on my Klein VDV501-851 cable verifier is kicking my butt. Watched an Electrician U video where Dustin broke down Section 179 deductions, and it got me thinking maybe I can expense more of my panel upgrade gear this time. Last year I underclaimed and ended up owing extra, won't make that mistake again. Anyone got tips on tracking mileage for service calls without going nuts? Using QuickBooks but it ain't perfect for us field guys.

track every klein tool purchase and breakage with receipts then deduct em as supplies on schedule c, saves me a couple hundred bucks a year.

Don't sleep on that Section 179 - I expensed a whole Fluke tester setup last year and saved a ton, but talk to a CPA first or you'll get audited.
