Jersey contractor, been doing this 20 years, and i'm at my wit's end with bookkeeping for all these panel upgrades and service calls. last month i had three jobs where the change orders for adding subpanels weren't properly documented in quickbooks, and now i'm scrambling to justify the extra 10 hours of labor to the clients. it's not just the time, it's the hassle of making sure every romex run and ground rod install is itemized right so i don't get stiffed on payments. we've got old houses everywhere here, so half the jobs turn into bigger rewires than quoted, and tracking those add-ons is a crap-show. anyone got a simple template or add-on for contracts that keeps everything straight? i don't want to hire a full-time bookkeeper yet, but this is eating into my evenings.

don't skip the change order sign-off on the spot, i saw a guy lose a $2k add-on because the client claimed they never agreed to it. it'll bite you harder than a bad ground if you let it slide into quickbooks later.

man, that quickbooks scramble on change orders for subpanels sounds exactly like the nightmare i go through every damn time an old house job balloons out of scope.

man, i feel that bookkeeping crap-show in my soul, especially when those old house rewires blow up the original quote. been scrambling like that too many times and it sucks.

switched to jobber for my landscaping contracts last year and finally got my shit together on change orders, no more late nights chasing payments. it tracks every add-on like subpanel installs right in the app, saved me at least 5 hours a week. proud to say i'm billing clean now, no excuses from clients.

man, im just an apprentice and already hate quickbooks for the same crap, cant track a simple romex job without it screwing up the hours. feels like every change order turns into a nightmare, wish there was a damn template that actually worked.

screw quickbooks for contracts, i just use google sheets templates with line items for every damn romex run and change order, and it's kept me from getting hosed on payments way better than any bloated software.

quickbooks is a bloated piece of crap for trades like us, ditch it for fieldpulse and watch your change orders actually track without the endless bullshit.

quickbooks is a total scam for guys like us, always screwing up the change orders and leaving us chasing payments from cheapskate homeowners. those old jersey houses turn every job into a money pit, and the software just makes it worse.

Try using Jobber for your contracts, it integrates directly with QuickBooks and auto-tracks change orders with timestamps for each line item like wire pulls or fixture installs.
