Subbed out an EV charger job last week to this guy with a solid rep, quoted $2k flat for a 240V Level 2 setup using 6/3 Romex. I'm down in south Florida, everything rusts fast here, and he botched the grounding to the subpanel per NEC 625.54, now the client's pissed and demanding a redo. Had to eat the cost to keep my name clean, but damn, subcontracting electrical gigs is getting riskier than ever.

man, subbing ev installs is turning into a crapshoot everywhere, had a similar mess with a guy missing the disconnect req and ate $1500 to fix it.

these sub contractors are turning the whole EV game into a crapshoot, jumping on the bandwagon without knowing NEC 625.54 from a hole in the ground. down in florida it's even worse with all these utility deals popping up and everyone's cutting corners to cash in. we gotta start vetting these clowns harder or we're all eating costs like this.

what kinda rep did this guy really have, you check his past ev installs or just word of mouth?

those sub contractors are straight up ruining the game down here, jumping on EV installs without knowing the first damn thing about NEC codes and leaving us to clean up their rustbucket messes.

next time double-check the sub's work on grounding with a quick continuity test before calling it done, saves you from eating that redo cost every time.

subbing out ev installs is a damn nightmare, had a similar mess last month where the guy skipped the gfcis and i got stuck fixing it myself. these 'solid rep' subs turn out to be hacks half the time, leaving you holding the bag in this humid hell. shoulda just done it in house from the start, but manpower's tight. pissed me off so bad i dropped two subs this week.

subcontractors are a damn plague down here, half of 'em couldn't wire a light switch without burning the house down. now with all these EV gigs popping up, it's just more hacks botching codes and leaving us to clean up their messes.

yeah south florida humidity makes grounding even trickier, had to redo one myself after a storm.

get everything in writing with subs, i use a simple contract template that spells out code compliance and redo clauses - saved my ass twice already

fuck these subs thinking they can half-ass electrical work, especially with EV stuff blowing up - inspectors are cracking down hard now
