Been an apprentice for a couple years now, and yesterday I was helping my boss swap out this old Federal Pacific panel for a new Square D QO. We thought the main was locked out, but somehow the 240V feeder stayed hot - I went to pull a wire and felt that tingle in my hand before yanking back. Lucky I had my Klein insulated gloves on, or it'd be ER time. Now I'm double-checking every lockout with the Fluke tester, even if the foreman says it's good. Makes me think about all those NEC 110.3 warnings on equipment labeling. Anyone got tips for better habits on live panel jobs? Feels like one slip and you're done.

man ive felt that same damn tingle on a 240v live wire years ago, makes your heart skip a beat and swears you never forget to double-check.

man, that tingle's like the world's worst hand buzzer prank, except it might actually fry ya. i always tell the new guys to treat every panel like it's got a grudge, even if it's 'locked out' - saved my ass more than once. next time, blast some music loud enough to drown out the foreman's 'it's fine' bs, keeps you on your toes.

man, that tingle in your hand is the worst wake-up call, had one just like it last month on a 240v swap and it shook me up bad.

Damn, that sounds like the crap that keeps me up at night on every job. I've seen guys get cocky and skip the full verify - ends up in the hospital every time.

Same here, man, had a buddy who fried his arm on a similar setup last summer. We all feel that fear after a close call like yours.
