Subcontracting electrical work in rural areas is a crapshoot

Man, I've been subcontracting out some of the bigger service upgrades lately, like running 14/2 romex for those new 240V outlets in garages, but it's always a hassle finding reliable guys. Last job, the sub showed up late with half the tools and had to borrow my Fluke tester just to check voltages. I work mostly in rural Ohio, so travel time eats into the schedule and inspectors are sticklers about NEC code 210.8 for GFCIs. Feels like I'm babysitting more than running my own crew these days. Anyone else tired of chasing subs who ghost you mid-project?

i've built a solid network of five reliable electrician subs over the last decade by vetting them on small jobs first, and now they handle my rural upgrades without me lifting a finger.

try posting on the local Facebook groups for subs, i found a solid guy in rural ohio that way who always brings his own fluke and sticks to schedule.

same shit here in rural spots, subs show up late or ghost and youre left holding the bag on deadlines. babysittin grown men aint what i signed up for either.

Built a solid sub network over 10 years by only using guys I've seen wire a full panel upgrade without shortcuts. Keeps my jobs on time and clients happy, no drama.

That's the dream, but good subs are unicorns. I've lost two contracts this year from flaky ones.

Subs are the devil. Fight me, but I'd rather pay overtime to my own guys than deal with their BS excuses.

Insurance companies love when you sub out, but then the claims skyrocket from their screwups. We're all getting hosed by these unreliable hacks.

Tell me about it, the whole industry's infested with subs who think bending conduit is optional. Time to union up or something.
