Man, I've been doing mostly residential panel upgrades and EV charger hookups for the last five years, and it's time to bump my rates up 20% because material costs are through the roof. Last week I quoted a guy for a Tesla Wall Connector in his garage, and he balked at the increase from what I charged him for his dryer outlet last year. I'm thinking of sending out emails to my client list explaining the jump due to copper prices and code updates like NEC 625 for EV stuff. Anyone else dealing with pushback on this? Feels like loyalty should count for something, but business is business. TBH, if I don't raise 'em soon, I'll be working for free on these 240V jobs.

just lay it out straight in the email: 'copper's up 50% since last year and nec 625 means more paperwork now, so rates gotta go up to keep doing quality installs like yours' - repeat customers usually get it if you keep it real.

yeah, same shit here with copper prices jacking everything up on those 240v installs. repeat customers always balk, but i just tell em loyalty means i give em first dibs at the new rate before i bump everyone else.

tell 'em it's the price of saving the planet, or just blame elon for making everyone want fancy wall connectors while copper skyrockets.

just tell 'em it's the copper gremlins union jacking prices, or blame it on elon making teslas too popular... works every time 😂

screw loyalty, if they cant handle a 20% bump for copper prices and NEC 625 updates then they aint worth keepin as customers, loyalty goes both ways.

same crap here, had a repeat guy throw a fit over my 240V panel bump last month, said he'd get his neighbor to do it cheaper. these homeowners think we're made of copper ourselves with prices up 30% since last year. loyalty's a joke when they're shopping angi for the lowest bid. gonna lose a few but screw it, better than bleeding money on every install.
