Insurance claim after a bad zap job - my story's a riot

So I had this commercial gig wiring up a new panel for a strip mall tenant, used some 12/2 romex and a Square D breaker box, everything by code. Finished up, tested it with my Fluke 117, all good. Next day, the owner calls me frantic - turns out his employee bumped a live wire and fried half the outlets. Filed the insurance claim, and now the adjuster's grilling me like I caused the whole damn thing. Had to show them my work order and photos from the SeeSnake cam I used to inspect the runs. It's hilarious how they think we're all one slip from bankruptcy, but man, these policies are thicker than my tool belt. Ever had a claim turn into a comedy of errors like this?

get everything documented from the jump - timestamps, signed off inspections, and a clear scope of work. i always have my clients initial the photos too, saved my ass on a similar claim last year.

keep every single photo and note from the job, i learned that the hard way on my first claim. insurance guys love to twist stuff so have your work order stamped and dated, maybe even get a third party like a local inspector to sign off for $200 or so. fluke readings help too, print em out. saved my ass last month when they tried to pin a fried circuit on me.

adjusters grilling you? sounds like my last claim where the guy thought my extension cord caused a fire... turns out it was his coffee maker on the fritz. 😂 insurance circus never ends.

don't ever skip getting your work signed off by a third party inspector before the client's insurance even looks at it, i lost a whole job payout last year to some adjuster nitpicking my romex runs.

adjusters are like vampires, suckin the life outta your job and only comin out at night to hassle ya. mine once claimed my solder joint caused a toilet to explode... turns out the kid flushed a matchbox car.

keep every receipt and photo timestamped from day one, or the adjusters will bury you in bullshit. i've seen guys lose tens of thousands fighting these claims without solid proof.

insurance adjusters are the WORST, always trying to pin it on us like we're the screw-ups. had a similar crap show last month where a simple wire nick turned into a full investigation, and i ended up spending $500 on a lawyer just to clear my name. these companies act like every claim's a scam, pisses me off every time.

What did the adjuster say about the employee bumping the wire?

They blamed the whole company for 'inadequate training' on safe practices around live circuits. Total BS, like we can babysit every idiot they hire. It's the same crap everywhere, these insurers squeezing us dry while the real culprits walk free.

Man, I've been there with a similar claim after a jobsite mishap. Felt like the insurance was more trouble than the fix itself.
