Been doing mostly residential panel upgrades and EV charger installs out here in Philadelphia, and my tax bill came in at $18k after deductions for all the 14/2 romex and breaker boxes I bought. Feels like every wire I pull just feeds the IRS more. Anyone else in the trade feeling buried under these quarterly estimates?

dont skimp on settin aside 25% of every job invoice for taxes here in philly or youll get hit with penalties thatll shock ya worse than a bare neutral.

switch to quickbooks self-employed for those quarterly estimates, it auto-tracks your mileage and deductions on romex and breakers so you dont overpay like i used to.

man, with taxes like that in philly, i half expect the irs to show up with their own square d breaker box demanding a cut of every circuit i run.

goddamn IRS is bleeding us dry just like they're doing to every small shop owner in this city, philly's wage tax on top of federal is straight up theft. i pulled 20k out of my last ev charger gig and half of it feels like it's gone before i even cash the check. these quarterly estimates are bullshit, man, they're designed to keep us scrambling while the big boys write off yachts.

switch to quickbooks self-employed for those quarterly estimates, its way easier to track your 1099s and mileage without the hassle. saved me a couple grand in accountant fees last year.

man, taxes are burying my electrical gigs too, feels like every panel upgrade just lines the IRS pockets instead of mine.

try quickbooks online for tracking those deductions better, itll spit out the quarterly estimates automatically and saved me a couple grand on my last filing.

try using quickbooks self employed for those quarterly estimates, itll crunch the numbers on your romex deductions and make filin way easier for a solo shop.

philly's BIRT is straight up robbing us small shops blind this year, like the IRS wasn't enough to choke on already.

yeah, i tell my clients the IRS is just the biggest phantom load on every circuit we ever run... sucks the life outta your wallet without even flipping a breaker.

irs is straight up robbing us blind with these estimates, especially when youre dumping cash on square d breakers and milwaukee tools that depreciate faster than a bad hookup. time to fight back by maxing every deduction or we all gonna get bent over.

philly's birt exemption got axed last year, so that $18k hit is hitting alot of us small shops harder now. switched to quickbooks online for tracking my quarterly estimates better and it cut my accountant time in half. hit up the city's revenue workshops if you havent, theyre covering the 2025 changes.

yeah man, that BIRT change in philly has me buried too, feels like every panel upgrade i do just lines the city's pockets more.

Don't sleep on that Section 179 deduction for your tools and equipment - I wrote off a whole Fluke meter setup last year and saved thousands, but get a CPA who knows trades or you'll miss half the write-offs.
