Saw this FB post on flooring pricing, now my insurance is jacking up my rates

Stumbled on a post in the Flooring Contractors Network group where everyone was dropping their sq ft rates for LVP installs, averaging around $3-4 per sq ft here in north jersey where old subfloors are always a nightmare. I'm running a small crew doing Coretec vinyl plank jobs, and my bookkeeping is a mess trying to track material costs vs labor, especially with insurance premiums hitting $8k this year for liability on those slippery installs. Feels like every time I quote a 1200 sq ft kitchen refloor, the premiums eat into my margin before I even buy the underlayment. Bookkeeping software like QuickBooks is supposed to help, but inputting all the Shaw flooring receipts is tedious as hell. Anyone else in the trade feeling squeezed by this? NGL, it's making me second-guess taking on bigger commercial gigs.
Insurance companies are screwing us all, especially after one bad slip-and-fall claim jacks rates for the whole industry. Those FB threads just highlight how underpriced we all are.

Damn right, my premiums doubled last year after a minor tile job incident, and now every sq ft quote feels like a gamble.

Same here, been paying an extra $2k annually just for coverage on hardwood refinishing. It's bullshit how they lump us in with riskier trades.
