Hey guys, just a heads up from someone who's been laying flooring for over a decade: always pull the damn permits on bigger jobs like full LVP remodels. I had a client in a condo complex last month who thought we could slide by without one, went with Coretec planks and everything looked killer until the building inspector showed up for a routine check. Turns out the HOA requires permits for any subfloor work, and now we're ripping it all up to comply, wasting time and pissing off the homeowner. Saw a similar rant in the Flooring Contractors Network group about a tile job where no permit led to a $2k fine, but yeah, don't repeat our screw-up. I've been using my Milwaukee M18 nailer for these installs, but even that doesn't save you from red tape. If you're quoting a job, build the permit cost into it from the start. Someone in r/Flooring posted about watching a Tile Tutorials video on permits, and it saved their ass.

man i feel that, had the exact same hassle with a hardwood refinish last year. inspectors are brutal.

hate when clients push to skip 'em to save time, then it bites everyone.

right? told a guy no permit means no job, he found out the hard way with his vinyl.

check your local codes first, saved me on a few LVP jobs. use the city's online portal if they have one.

frustrated as hell, clients don't get why we charge extra for the paperwork hassle.

lol, nothing funnier than an inspector showing up mid-install with coffee in hand.

permits turning a quick flip into a month-long drama? classic flooring comedy.

for LVP, i always quote with permit included now. use apps like PermitFlow to speed it up.

sharkbite fittings are bad, but skipping permits? that's flooring suicide. fight me if you disagree.

pissed me off last week, had to redo a whole room because the permit guy nitpicked the underlayment.
