Alright, I'm a couple months into flooring installs and just wrapped my first full vinyl plank job in the greater Atlanta area - thought I had it down from watching those Home Depot tutorials, but man was I wrong. Customer picked out Coretec LVP, 800 sq ft kitchen and living room, and I figured floating it would be straightforward. Skipped acclimating the planks for a full 48 hours like the instructions said because the homeowner was pushing to get it done quick, and now there's cupping along the edges from the humidity swings we get down here. Saw a similar mess in the Flooring Contractors Network group last week where a guy didn't level the subfloor properly with a 3/16" variance allowed, and it led to clicks popping loose after a month. Also learned the hard way that not taping seams tight enough lets dirt sneak under and looks crappy fast. If you're green like me, double-check your underlayment - I used a cheap 6 mil felt and it bunched up underfoot. Moral: rush jobs bite you, take the time or eat the redo cost.
