Man, I just had a claim go south because the insurance adjuster said the subfloor damage from that LVP install wasn't 'covered under my policy' even though the customer swore it was water damage from a leak. We're out here busting our asses with tools like the Festool Domino for precise cuts on hardwood transitions, and these companies act like we're the problem. Saw a rant in the Flooring Contractors Network group about similar BS with Mohawk vinyl planks warping claims getting denied. I use QuickBooks for bookkeeping to track all this crap, but it doesn't help when the insurer drags their feet for months. TBH, it's making me question if I need to bump up my liability coverage or just eat the losses. Anyone got a good broker who actually fights for trades like us? FML, this industry's tough enough without the suits making it worse.

Haha, adjusters treat us like we're installing gold-plated carpet.

What exactly did the adjuster say about the subfloor?
B

Claimed it was pre-existing wear, not the leak we documented with photos.

Switch to a broker who specializes in contractors, they know how to push back on denials.

Mine denied a tile job claim last year, had to eat $800 in materials.

Insurance is a racket, they're in bed with the big box stores and screw the small guys like us flooring pros.

The whole system's rigged against trades, time to union up or something.

Union? In flooring? Good luck with that.

Already doing that, but they still twist it.

Try Hiscox, they're better for small ops like ours.

Don't file small claims yourself, get a public adjuster for anything over a grand.

This crap is why I quit taking insurance jobs altogether.
