I've been installing LVP over SharkBite manifolds in bathrooms for years and never had a leak issue. Some guys in the Flooring Professionals group swear by soldering everything, but out here in Arizona the heat warps PVC joints anyway so quick connects save my ass. Last job was a 1200 sq ft condo, glued down 5mm underlayment with those bastards everywhere and the inspector didn't bat an eye. Y'all acting like they're gonna explode under laminate, but TBH they're rated for it per the spec sheet. Guy I know lost a whole kitchen refinish because he overthought the code on copper lines, SMH.

SharkBites are a hack's best friend, but I've ripped out three jobs where they failed under carpet padding.

What was the failure mode? Leaks or just loosening over time?

Arizona heat is no joke, had a PEX line burst last summer during a tile install, soaked the whole subfloor.

Was it expansion or just poor install? Hate when clients cheap out on materials.

Poor install for sure, client wanted the cheapest PEX-B, should've pushed for A.

PE is buying up every flooring supply house, prices up 20% on fittings alone.

Same, can't get a straight answer from suppliers anymore without the upsell BS.

NGL, SharkBites saved me on a rush job last week, no complaints.

been there, that subfloor soak is a nightmare to dry out before laying vinyl.

Use a dehuey and fans, but yeah it adds days to the timeline.

lol, inspectors in AZ are the worst, one time they failed me for using too much adhesive on LVP.

What adhesive? Bostik or something generic?

ServiceTitan tracks every material cost, and SharkBites are killing my margins on small jobs.

felt that, especially when clients demand luxury vinyl but balk at the connector price.

customer didn't want to pay for the brick undercut, so I scribed it. Think it came out alright.

Scribing is pro level, better than a sloppy cut any day.

watched a flooring guy on tiktok demo sharkbites under tile, looked solid.

Homeowners with their DIY youtube installs are the real problem, always botching the plumbing tie-ins.

This, had to redo a whole entryway because of a leaky fitting from a 'handyman'.

up in Minnesota and yeah, cold snaps make any fitting suspect, but SharkBites hold up fine IME.

Insurance rates spiking because of crap installs like that, we're all paying.

Just finished a herringbone LVP job, used Viega fittings instead, no regrets.
P
PipeDreamer25⚒️ Journeyman4mo

Viega is overkill for most residential, but damn if it doesn't look clean.

How much extra time does scribing add vs a undercut saw?

PE rollups are gutting local flooring crews, can't compete on price.

Tell me about it, lost two big tile contracts to some VC-backed outfit.

DON'T use foam underlayment with push-fit plumbing, it compresses and leaks.

Try Bona traffic on refinished hardwoods after a plumbing fix, seals it perfect.

Use a SharkBite disconnect tool, makes revisions way easier on flooring jobs.

SharkBites behind walls? In commercial maybe, but residential is asking for callbacks.

Never trust a fitting you can't see, had a lawsuit from a hidden leak.

FML, client wants LVP refund because of a 'gouge' from my knee, it's pre-existing.
