Me and the helper showed up to this kitchen job with subfloor that was uneven as hell, figured it'd take all day to level. Grabbed the Mohawk LVP planks and my Festool sander, got it smoothed out in a couple hours. Customer was thrilled when we finished with no transitions, even threw in some underlayment for that click-lock system. Saw a similar setup on r/Flooring where the guy botched it with cheap tools, so I was extra careful. Guy in the Flooring Contractors Network group mentioned using self-leveler, but I stuck to sanding since it was just minor dips. Felt good walking off that one without callbacks. Anyone got tips for faster subfloor prep on the next one?
uneven subfloors are the worst, had one last week where i wasted half the day sanding with my dewalt and the customer still nitpicked the seams. self-leveler sounds smart but in my experience it just adds more time and mess if you dont get it perfect. gonna try that next time but im not holding my breath.
