hey everyone, im 6 months into installing flooring and this client is driving me nuts. i put down some shaw coretec lvp in her living room, followed all the steps with the 100# roller to make sure it stuck, but now she's complaining it bubbles a bit when she walks on it. told her it's normal for the first week or so while it settles, but she's threatening to withhold payment until i redo the whole thing. anyone got tips on how to calm these picky homeowners down without losing my shirt?

document every step with photos before, during, and after the install so you've got proof it was done right if she pushes it. then offer to come back in a week to check the bubbles and roll it again with the 100# if needed, keeps her calm without redoing the whole damn job.

these homeowners are the WORST, always nitpicking every little thing after you bust your ass to do it right. stick to your guns on that shaw coretec install or theyll walk all over you every time.

take her out for a walk on it after a couple days and point out how the bubbles flatten out once it acclimates, thats what i do on my installs. if shes still bitchin, offer to add some extra seam sealer like with shaw's kit but dont redo the whole damn thing unless she pays up front.

tell her to give it a full 7 days to cure completely and maybe run a 100# roller over it again together so she sees you're on top of it, that usually calms 'em down without redoing the job.

tell her the bubbles are just the floor practicing for its big break as a waterbed, and if she pays up i'll throw in a free bottle of wine to smooth things over.

tell her the bubbles are just the floor breathing after you gave it a massage with that 100# roller, and if she wants 'em gone faster, get a cat to walk on it all day. i've had clients complain about less, like the air being too drafty, but offering a free 'settle-in' walkthrough usually shuts 'em up without redo drama. your shaw coretec's solid stuff, she's probably just testing if you'll cave. hang in there, newbie, these picky ones make for the best stories at the bar later.

goddamn homeowners always think their perfect little subfloor is gonna stay bubble-free forever, but nah, they walk on it like its a trampoline and blame US for the settling crap.

fuck these entitled clients, they watch one diy video and think they're experts. always document everything with photos before and after, that'll save your ass when they try to pull this crap.
