Been in the Chicago area my whole career doing flooring, and this one's got me pissed. Finished a whole house LVP job with Coretec planks last month, client said it looked great, but two weeks later they're claiming warping under the baseboards and want a full redo. Filed the insurance claim thinking it'd cover the material defects, turns out the policy barely touches labor and I'm out $4500 in rework costs already. Watched a video from that flooring guy on YouTube breaking down how these claims go sideways if you don't document every damn step. Now the homeowner's leaving 1-star reviews everywhere, and I'm scrambling to respond without sounding defensive. Frustrated as hell, anyone dealt with this crap?
damn insurance companies are the real crooks here, they nickel and dime you on claims while homeowners get a free redo and trash your rep, ive lost thousands on similar bs.

damn insurance companies are the real crooks here, leaving us contractors to eat the costs while they nickel and dime every claim like its their last dollar.

man, $4500 nightmare? sounds like my last job where the cat clawed up the baseboards and blamed it on 'expansion' - insurance laughed me out the door 😂

document EVERYTHING with timestamps and photos before, during, and after the install - that saved my ass on a similar lvp mess last year. get a policy rider for material defects and labor coverage, mine through progressive added $2k back when the planks warped from bad ac in the house. respond to those reviews calm like 'we're addressing the issue per our warranty, contact us direct' to keep it professional without groveling. homeowners always hit review sites first, but a quick fix and follow-up can flip em to 5-stars. coretec's got a solid warranty if you register the batch number upfront, call their support line pronto. also, push for an independent inspector to verify if it's your install or their humidity control that's the real culprit. been down this road twice, and pushing back with proof turns the tide every time.

Haha, sounds like the time I glued down vinyl wrong and the dog peed on it - instant claim disaster.

Man, I feel your pain on those LVP claims. Been there twice this year, eating the costs every time while the insurer plays dumb. It's exhausting.

Insurance companies are the real villains here, screwing over us small guys while they rake in premiums. Time to union up or something.

How'd you handle the initial underlayment prep? Was it acclimated right?

Document everything with photos before, during, and after - timestamped. Helped me win a similar dispute last year, got reimbursed for the full $3k.
