im a total newbie just starting out in garage doors and stumbled on this post in the garage door installers facebook group about local repair and install services. they mentioned chi doors and liftmaster openers for standard jobs. got a quote for $650 to install a basic opener on my buddy's house here in the dallas-fort worth area, but im wondering if thats a fair price or if i can do it cheaper myself.
man, $650 in the dfw area sounds about right for a liftmaster install, especially if they're throwin in any track adjustments or safety checks. been there quotin jobs myself and it's tough to beat without cuttin corners on labor. you can diy it cheaper but one wrong move and you're lookin at a saggin door or worse.

$650 for a liftmaster install in DFW? man, thats the going rate these days with all the supply chain BS drivin up parts costs, been quoted similar on jobs last month and it pisses me off every time. you aint gettin screwed, but DIY if you can handle the wiring without fryin somethin. same shit here, cant even find a decent opener under $300 anymore.

$650 sounds about right for dallas, includes the labor and any tweaks to the tracks.

check the alignment first, liftmaster manuals have good diagrams for that.

those chi doors are solid, but get the insulated ones for texas heat.

use clopay panels, they hold up better in humid spots.

humor in these jobs keeps me sane, like doors that 'auto-open' for raccoons.
