Out here in zone 5, north jersey winters make garage doors a real pain, and last week I lost a $2000 Clopay install job because of a single 1-star review on Angi from some picky customer who complained about the spring tension even after I adjusted it twice. Guy in the Garage Door Installers Facebook group was ranting about the same thing, how these review sites let anyone trash you without proof. I've been doing this 15 years, and now I'm second-guessing every opener install like on that Tommy Mello TikTok where he talks reputation management. Don't ignore your online presence, folks, or you'll be scrambling for leads like I am now. PSA: respond to every review, even the BS ones.

Angi is the WORST, they take 20% of your leads and then let fake reviews bury you. Screw em.

Yeah, switched to Google Business and never looked back.

Same, Angi cost me three jobs last month alone.

Never take Angi leads. Had a guy leave a fake review after I fixed his LiftMaster opener, said I broke it when it was already shot. Cost me $1500 in lost work.

Report that crap to Angi, but they do nothing.

Exactly, their system's rigged against us small guys.

Those review sites are a racket, pure and simple. One bad word and poof, your ranking drops.

Happened to me with a Genie install, customer was mad I wouldn't cut corners on safety.

Damn, that sucks man. Lost a similar deal on a commercial roll-up door because of some Yelp BS.

Felt that. Reviews are killing independent installers like us.

Angi and HomeAdvisor are just lead mills that screw over the pros. Boycott them all.

It's collective BS, we all suffer from these entitled reviewers who think $2000 for a full Clopay setup is too much.

One review cost me a $3k job last year, never again with those platforms.

Build your own site and focus on referrals, ditch the aggregators.

How do you even fight back against fake reviews without looking desperate?

Use Google reviews instead, way better for local garage door work.

Encourage happy customers to leave reviews right after the job, balances the haters.

What platform do you use now that works without the drama?

Saw a post on r/HomeImprovement about this, everyone hates Angi.

Respond professionally but firm, call out the lies without suing.

Don't let one review define you, but yeah, it stings when it's a big ticket like that.
