Been trying cold outreach for garage door services the last few months, mostly texting homeowners about seasonal tune-ups on their LiftMaster openers. I figure if I hit 100 houses a week, something's gotta stick, but man, the response rate is crap. Saw a post on r/HomeImprovement where someone mentioned using NextDoor for leads, so I tried that too, but still mostly nos. Tommy Mello talks about this in his videos, saying persistence is key, but I'm starting to think it's all BS for us small guys. Anyone got a script that actually works for garage door installs without sounding like a spammer? FML, need to tweak my approach before I waste more time.

same here, been blasting texts about liftmaster tuneups and getting nothing but crickets for weeks now. feels like a total waste of time for us small outfits.

Try this text script: 'hey neighbor, noticed your LiftMaster opener might need a quick lube n tighten before winter hits - $89 tune-up keeps it quiet, text back yes for a slot?' works better than the salesy crap, got me 12% response on 200 blasts last month. ditch the seasonal spam, hit em with a real fix.

cold texts are a joke, homeowners treat us like spam bots while angi and thumbtack suck up all the real leads with their BS fees. damn shame small guys like us get ghosted while those platforms get rich off our backs.

try leadin with the safety angle, like 'your liftmaster opener's got a loose chain that'll jam soon and risk your car or worse - wanna quick tune-up?' works better than straight sales pitch cuz folks hate spam but love not gettin sued. i added a pic of a busted spring in my texts last month and bumped responses up to 8% from nothin. keep it to 2 sentences max or they ghost ya. what kinda neighborhoods you hittin, the ritzy ones or blue collar?

ghosted on texts too, its like yelling into the void half the time. tried nextdoor myself but half those leads are folks wanting free advice on why their liftmaster wont reverse. tommy mello's persistence talk sounds good til youre the one burning gas for nada. what kinda neighborhoods you blasting, like older suburbs or the new builds? i figure if its not the right demo, scripts wont save ya. ever tried adding a quick pic of a before and after tune-up to the text? been thinkin of switching to postcards but hate the waste if they just trash em.

those angie leads and nextdoor blasts are just a scam for small guys like us, they dangle 'em to suck up our cash while homeowners ignore every damn text.

ditch the generic texts and spend 2 minutes per house looking up their address on zillow to mention something specific like 'saw your opener might be due for that annual lube on those Liftmaster chains.' gets me 15% response instead of crickets, way better than blasting spam.

ditch the texts and hit nextdoor with a simple pitch like 'hey neighbors, ill tune up your liftmaster for $89 before the hinges seize up this summer, dms open' - got me three calls last month without the spam vibe.

those angie and homeadvisor leads are the biggest scam goin, they dangle 'em in front of us small guys then charge an arm and a leg for zilch responses, total BS.

Hit $50k in new garage door leads last quarter just by door-knocking commercial spots with custom flyers. Feels damn good to see the numbers climb after years of grinding.

Door-knocking? That's old school, but hilarious picturing you in a suit sweating it out. Worked for me once, till the dog chased me down the block.
