Man, I was out installing a new Clopay 8500 series door today, quoted her $1200 flat for the whole job including the LiftMaster opener. Got the panels up and the tracks aligned when she decides she wants the windows frosted instead of clear, adding another $300 in materials and a half day delay. Now she's bitching about the timeline and threatening a bad review if I don't eat the cost. FML, these picky homeowners are gonna drive me to quit.

fuckin homeowners like that are the reason i stopped doing flat rates, always changin their damn minds and expectin us to eat it. had one last month who wanted a custom color swap after the panels were halfway up, cost me $250 outta pocket just to keep her from blastin me on yelp. its bullshit how they think were magicians or somethin, threatenin reviews like thats gonna make us bend over backwards. we gotta start quotin change orders in WRITING from the jump to protect ourselves from these entitled pricks.

next time just tell her the frosted windows are for hiding her secret stash of embarrassing lawn ornaments. i had a lady once demand glitter on her panels mid-job, like it was a disco rave in the garage. ended up charging her double for the sparkle tax. 😂 homeowners, man, they think we're wizards with instant magic.

been there with those indecisive homeowners, always waiting til the panels are up to throw a wrench in it. dont let her bad review happen, remind her the change was her call.

ugh, these homeowners think they can change the whole damn plan and not pay for it. had a similar crapshoot last week and i just walked away, screw the review.

Sounds like my last job with a LiftMaster conversion, lady wanted gold hardware after we started with standard. I just laughed and said 'ma'am, that's why we discuss options upfront' then showed her the door.

Haha, love that response. I finally got to install a full custom setup last year, $8k job with all the bells and whistles, client was thrilled and tipped extra. Made up for all the BS.
