Referral Program Boosted My Garage Door Installs, But Reviews Are a Nightmare in Chicago

Been running a referral program for my garage door business where I give $50 off the next service for every successful handoff, and it's landed me three steady commercial clients this quarter alone. We're talking full LiftMaster opener installs on those big sectional doors for warehouses. But damn, the one-star reviews from picky homeowners who ghost after the install are killing my Google rating. I'm in the Chicago area my whole career, and these wind gusts off the lake make every door job twice as tricky, so excuses pile up. Watched a YouTube video from Project Farm testing torsion springs last week, made me rethink my supplier choices. Now I'm debating review gating without getting slapped by Google. Anyone else dealing with this crap?

hit 4.9 stars on my google profile last month after tweaking my referral setup to include a quick text survey post-install, turned those picky homeowners into my best cheerleaders. chicago wind be damned, but i started offering a free annual lube and balance check for reviewers, and it's cut the one-stars by half without any shady gating. liftmaster's my go-to for those warehouse jobs too, their quietglide chains hold up better than chi hardware in gusts. proud to say it's pushed my installs up 30% this year.

man, those chicago wind jobs turn every install into a crapshoot and then the homeowners ghost with a one-star? been there, it sucks.

how many of those one-star reviews are from folks who didnt even respond to your follow-up call about the install?

man those one-star ghosts hit hard, been there with chicago homeowners who vanish after i bust my ass on windy installs. referral program's gold but reviews are straight bs.

those picky homeowners ghosting after a solid liftmaster install are the worst, chicago wind or not, they've tanked my rating too and i just wanna scream at em.

my referral program's netted me five new commercial gigs in the last six months, all liftmaster installs, and i just ignore the ghosting homeowners' bs by posting before-and-after pics on google to drown out the bad noise.

This ain't plumbing, dude. Stick to your bugs. But yeah, those review vampires suck the life out of legit businesses like ours. I just ignore 'em and push the good ones harder.
