Stumbled on this Instagram reel from Tommy Mello where he talks about making orientation memorable for new hires and pushing them to dream big so they stick around. As a general contractor, I've been in the Chicago area my whole career, and licensing here is no joke, you gotta hit those 4 years of experience and pass the state exam or you're sidelined. Watched it after seeing a similar rant in The Contractor Fight Facebook group about high turnover with unlicensed help. If you're onboarding guys for certs, tie it to their goals like Mello says, it keeps them motivated through the paperwork BS. Also, mention r/smallbusiness threads on this, lots of good tips there too. Definitely gonna use some of that in my next team meeting.
