So I'm working out of Nashville doing general handyman gigs, mostly kitchen renos and deck repairs, and my bookkeeper enters the wrong damn classification code for a liability claim after I scratched a customer's antique oak cabinet with my DeWalt oscillating tool. Next thing I know, the insurance folks are quoting me a 25% premium hike because it looked like I was doing high-risk electrical work instead of just basic trim install. TBH, I laughed at first thinking it was a mix-up, but now I'm sweating over the paperwork. Saw a similar story in the Contractors Network Facebook group where a guy got hit with a $5k deductible out of pocket. Anyone else had bookkeeping screw-ups turn into liability headaches? Feels like a bad comedy sketch.
