Sick of these half-assed contracts screwing us over on remodel jobs

Up here in north Jersey, just got burned on a $15k kitchen remodel using a basic Home Depot template agreement that didn't specify change order approvals, and now the homeowner's claiming the quartz countertops from MSI were 'wrong color' after I already installed them. We're all getting pissed at these PE-backed companies like ServiceTitan pushing their fancy contract software for $200/month that small guys like me can't afford, but without it, we're stuck with vague BS that leads to disputes. Saw a similar rant in the Contractors Network Facebook group last week where a guy lost $8k over a missing lien waiver clause. It's like every general contractor's contract is a crapshoot, and these clients think they can nickel and dime us to death. FML, anyone else dealing with this nonsense in the remodel game?

Haha, sounds like you need a contract that says 'if you change your mind after I pour the slab, you pay double for the therapy sessions.'

goddamn these homeowners, i had one try to back out after the demo because the floor plan 'felt off' and my contract had zero protection.

exactly, suppliers jack up prices mid-job and you're the one holding the bag.
