Down here in Houston, I quoted a $5000 flat rate for a full commercial landscape redesign using Stihl trimmers and Scotts fertilizer, but my crew botched the sod install and the client stiffed me for $3000. We've been grinding on these humid Gulf jobs all summer, and this one pissed me off enough to consider ditching the whole general contracting side. Saw a similar rant in The Contractor Fight group about PE firms buying up landscape outfits and squeezing everyone out. Anyone else ready to walk after a hit like this?

file a mechanics lien on that job asap, in texas you got 90 days from last work to protect your $3000. been burned on a sod install myself, but that pulled me back from quitting.

man, stiffed on a $3k sod job in that houston humidity? sounds like the client's lawn is greener without your crew... and your wallet. time to pivot to indoor gigs before you melt down here.

man, i lost $1500 last month on a houston strip center job when my guys laid the sod wrong in that damn humidity, and the client laughed off the bill. pe vultures circling makes me wanna torch the whole operation and go fishin.

man, that $3k gut punch from a botched sod job hits different in this humidity, been there with a crew that turned a simple install into a swamp mess last summer. clients around here love stiffing you when things go sideways, especially on commercial gigs. dont even get me started on those pe vultures circling, squeezing the life out of small outfits like ours. hang in there, brother, we've all stared down the barrel of quitting after crap like this.

those PE vultures are circling like sharks in the gulf, buying up every decent outfit and turning the whole industry into a crapshoot for the rest of us. i lost two good helpers last year to one of their roll-ups offering better hours, and now im stuck chasing these nightmare jobs just to stay afloat. screw em, houston needs more guys like us fighting back before they own it all.

screw the pe vultures gobbling up every decent outfit down here, theyre turning this into a race to the bottom. ive lost 2k on a similar sod screwup last month and yeah, quitting sounds tempting some days.

dont ever go flat rate on commercial sod jobs like that in houston without a solid contract clause for crew screwups, or you'll get burned again just like my buddy did last year.

those PE vultures are circling every trade down here, buying up outfits just to gut 'em and leave us small guys stiffed on payments like this crap-show.
