Been using QuickBooks for years to track my gutter installs, but last week I somehow double-billed a client for a $450 Leafguard job and didn't catch it til they called pissed. Had to eat the fee and apologize like crazy, total embarrassment after 10 years in this. Anyone got tips to avoid this crap without switching to something pricier like FreshBooks?

quickbooks screwed me over the same way last month, double charged a $300 job and the client threatened to sue before i fixed it... feels like the damn software is out to get us solo guys.

set up quickbooks to flag duplicate invoices right after you enter em, saves me from that headache every time on my gutter runs. i run a weekly reconciliation too, catches any weirdness before the client does. stick with it a bit longer, its worth tweaking over jumping to freshbooks.

quickbooks is a total scam the way it lets this crap happen and screws us small guys every time. clients act like we stole their damn house when its just their buggy ass software.

Set up invoice templates in QuickBooks with auto-checks for duplicates, saved my ass on a big deck project last month.

Yeah but those templates still glitch sometimes.

Nah, just run a daily report on new invoices.

Dude, same here with wiring gigs, bookkeeping software is a nightmare.

Switch to Xero if QuickBooks keeps screwing you, it's way better for small ops like ours.

quickbooks is a damn nightmare, always overcomplicating shit and costing us real money on jobs like those leafguard installs. screw em, xero all the way before they bleed us dry.

How do you handle the tax side with that mess? I use an accountant now to avoid fines.

What exactly triggered the double bill? Was it a sync error with your payment processor?

check your quickbooks sync settings with the processor first, alot of times it's the recurring invoice template duplicating entries if you dont tweak the automation rules.
