I've been trying to drum up more handyman jobs through Instagram and Facebook, posting before-and-after pics of small fixes like repairing loose cabinet hinges or patching drywall holes, but it's been a total bust. We're in Texas so the competition from big outfits is brutal, and my posts just get buried. I even spent a couple hours setting up targeted ads for local residential work, but only got three inquiries in a month, none of which turned into paying gigs. Frustrated as hell, feels like I'm wasting time that could be spent on actual jobs. Anyone else dealing with this in the general trade? What's your go-to for getting eyes on that content without breaking the bank?

ditch the ads and focus on local facebook groups for handyman services, i post one job pic a week with a quick tip like using painters tape for clean drywall edges and pulled in 4 solid leads last month without spending a dime.

those fucking facebook ads are a scam, just like angi sucking your wallet dry for leads that ghost you. in texas the big boys with their pe-backed bullshit drown out every small handyman trying to get a fair shake. wasted three months on that crap myself, got zilch but a lighter bank account. screw social media hype, go back to knocking doors and yard signs where real work comes from.

man, social media's a total grind for us small guys in texas too, posts just vanish under all the big company noise. been there with the ads floppin and it sucks when you're better off fixin sinks than chasin likes.

Switch to short video reels showing quick fixes, like using a DeWalt drill for hinge swaps - they get way more engagement than static pics.

Yeah, videos work but the algorithm still screws small accounts. Big corps dominate with paid boosts, it's rigged against us independents. Damn frustrating when you're hustling for scraps.

Try NextDoor instead, it's hyperlocal and homeowners there actually need general fixes like shelf installs without the influencer BS.

Same here man, social media ate my weekends posting about odd jobs until I quit and focused on yard signs - got steady calls for fence repairs after that.

I feel your pain, Texas market is saturated with handymen spamming the same crap online.
