I'm sick of hearing about these referral programs that are supposed to boost your handyman business but just leave you chasing shadows. You fix a leaky faucet or hang some shelves with your DeWalt drill and suddenly everyone's promising to send work your way, but it never materializes. I saw a post in the Handyman Nation Facebook group where a guy vented about the same BS, and the comments were full of us griping about flaky referrals. It's like every client thinks a $50 gift card makes them your best referrer, but they don't actually tell their friends about the drywall patch or cabinet install you did. Watched a Tommy Mello video on scaling referrals, thought it'd help, but applying it to odd jobs just gets me more headaches than leads. These programs sound great on paper for bigger outfits, but for solo handymen grinding out repairs, they're just another way to waste time. Who's with me on ditching this crap?

Referral programs suck for handymen because clients don't value the little stuff we do.

try offering a $25 discount instead, actually gets them talking.
