Got my commercial liability renewal in south Florida, and it's jumping to $4500 a year for my handyman gig fixing fences and patching drywall. Last year was half that, but now with all the hurricane claims spiking rates everywhere. Called my agent and he just shrugged, said it's the new normal for guys like us hauling ladders and Milwaukee tools around.

Insurance companies are screwing us all over with these hikes, especially after every storm season.

I'm so pissed, switched providers and still got hit with a 30% increase out of nowhere.

Those bastards at the insurance firms don't care about small handymen scraping by.

Exactly, it's all about their profits while we foot the bill.

Shop around on sites like Insureon, might save a couple hundred.

Don't skimp on coverage though, had a client trip over my drop cloth once and it cost me 2k in deductibles.

PE and big corps are buying up insurers too, driving prices through the roof.

Watch out for exclusions on tool theft, mine didn't cover my stolen DeWalt kit last month.

Dropped my jaws when mine went up 40%, been claim-free for a decade.

Try getting a quote from Hiscox, they're decent for handymen and sometimes cheaper.

Good call, switched to them last year and saved 800.

Go with a trade association policy, often better rates for guys like us.
