been doing handyman work for 8 years now and ive learned the hard way that difficult clients are everywhere especially the ones who think they know better than you on basic fixes. last week i had a guy in the chicago area who insisted i use cheap home depot particle board for his kitchen shelf repair instead of proper plywood saying itll save him money but it sagged in two days and now hes pissed calling me nonstop. always get everything in writing upfront including material specs and changes because verbal agreements are worth jack when they change their mind. another time a lady wanted me to patch her drywall with just tape and mud but wouldnt spring for joint compound from lowes so it cracked right away and she blamed me. trust me document photos before and after every job itll save your ass. oh and saw a similar rant in the handyman nation facebook group last month about a client who micromanaged a fence repair with specific nail sizes. watched that dad builds guy on youtube too he had some tips on setting boundaries early.

always use a simple contract template from online like the one jobber provides it covers your bases without being too wordy.

walking into jobs where the client already half assed it with superglue on wood trim pisses me off every time.
