Had a real heart-stopper on a deck repair in rural Ohio this afternoon. Customer's got this sagging 10x12 platform with rotted joists, so I'm up there swapping out some 2x8s using my DeWalt circular saw when the whole scaffold wobbles like crazy. Turns out one of the braces was just hanging by a thread, coulda dropped me 8 feet onto concrete. PSA to all you handymen: always double-check those connections before climbing, especially on older builds. I was sweating bullets thinking about what could've happened if I hadn't caught it. Someone in the Handyman Nation Facebook group posted a similar scare last week, and yeah, it's no joke. Watched a Scott Brown video on safe scaffolding basics after, and damn if it didn't save my ass today.

Never skip the brace check, I learned that the hard way on a porch job last summer.

What brand of scaffold were you using? Mine's a cheap Home Depot one and it's always iffy.

Dude, that sucks. Been there with shaky setups, knees still ache from a fall five years back.

Proud I switched to Werner scaffolds after a similar wobble, solid as rock now and no more close calls.

Werner's worth every penny, yeah.

Same here, man. Rural jobs always have sketchy access, makes you extra paranoid.

FML, just vented to my buddy about a ladder slip yesterday, these near-misses are piling up.

Insurance companies love hearing about this crap, premiums go through the roof.

PE firms buying up tool rentals ain't helping, everything's cutting corners now.

Feel that, every solo guy I know has a story like this.

Finally got my crew trained on full inspections, cut our incidents by half this year.

Lol, imagine if the customer saw you flailing, they'd think handymen are clowns.

Haha, or blame it on the ghost of the old house.

Bet the homeowner didn't even notice, they never do till something breaks for real.

Wrapping up a similar deck in the burbs, my Milwaukee packout system's a lifesaver for organizing braces on site.

Don't mess around with heights, got a buddy who ignored a wobble and ended up in the ER with a busted ankle.
