Out here in rural Ohio, I upsold a basic cabinet door hinge fix to a full refinish using Minwax stain, quoted $150 extra for the labor and materials. Customer just chuckled and said he'd DIY it with stuff from Home Depot. Watched that Tommy Mello video on upselling handyman services, thought I'd give it a shot on this farmhouse kitchen job. Turns out folks in these small towns stick to bare minimums, even when I show em the before pics. Funny how that backfired, now I'm stuck doing the cheapo fix for half the price.
damn these rural folks always lowballin, had a similar crap job last month where they laughed off my $200 upcharge for Sherwin-Williams paint and made me eat the time.

man, rural folks just dont wanna shell out for the nice stuff, been laughed at a few times tryin to upsell refinish jobs myself. sticks in your craw when you know minwax woulda made their kitchen pop. now im just stickin to the basics out here too, less hassle that way.

rural customers are the WORST, always cheaping out on everything decent like minwax is some luxury they cant afford. buncha tightwads thinking diy fixes last longer than a week.

what's your go-to line for upselling on those small town jobs without coming off too pushy?
